In August 2025, the Kalashnikov Concern completed the scheduled delivery of KUB loitering munition systems under the terms of the Russian state defense order. The contract was fulfilled for the Russian Ministry of Defense, according to the company’s press service.
The KUB system is designed to engage both individual and group targets, including lightly armored vehicles, within the tactical depth of enemy defenses. The system navigates to pre-set coordinates, and its control unit transmits commands in real time.
Serial production of the KUB system has been underway at Kalashnikov’s facilities since 2021. The system includes unmanned aerial vehicles equipped with loitering munitions, a ground control station, and communication assets. KUB features low acoustic signature, rapid deployment and withdrawal times, and the capability to launch multiple munitions simultaneously from a single control station.
During operational use, including in the current conflict zone, KUB systems have been employed against a range of targets such as personnel, bunkers, strongpoints, multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), and self-propelled artillery. In 2025, production volumes of the enhanced KUB loitering munition increased compared to the previous year. Kalashnikov also exports the KUB-E variant to several international customers; specific countries are not disclosed.
KUB is classified as a modern precision strike system, suited for dynamic combat environments. Its operational characteristics enable deployment in diverse climatic and weather conditions. The munition has a range of up to 25 miles (40 km), a warhead weight of up to 6.6 lbs (3 kg), and an endurance of up to 30 minutes. These specifications provide tactical flexibility for a wide range of missions.
