A prototype kamikaze jet FPV drone aircraft type K-5 with a flight range of 90 kilometers was presented at the Equip exhibition in Moscow, RIA Novosti reported.

At the stand of the developer company Unmanned Vehicles said that the purpose of creating the jet UAV was to get a higher flight speed.

The turbojet propulsion system provides the drone with a maximum speed of 400 kilometers per hour, a cruising speed of 200 km/h, and a range of up to 90 km. The payload mass is six kilograms. Completion and production, with the exception of the engine, are Russian. The drone is launched from a land-based quick-deploy catapult or with the help of a solid-fuel rocket booster.

“We made the UAV jet-powered in order to gain speed. The maneuvering capabilities allow it to move at that speed. In the near future, the possibility of correcting the inertial system will be used, which will completely get rid of the use of radio channels,” said a company spokesman.

According to him, the K-5 is equipped with artificial intelligence and computer vision to recognize heat signatures and visual images. The drone operator must bring the bumping munition to the target area, and the onboard system will independently aim it at a specific object of destruction.

The company Unmanned Systems specified that the UAV is currently undergoing testing, which is planned to be completed by the end of this year, and then present a line of serial vehicles in both reconnaissance and striking versions with different loadings.
