Russian Helicopters Holding has completed the delivery of another batch of 14 Mi-8MTV-1 helicopters to Russian airlines. These aircraft were manufactured at the Kazan Helicopter Plant under a contract with the State Transport Leasing Company (GTLK), as announced by the holding’s press service.

“This delivery is part of a larger agreement for 86 Mi-8 helicopters, aimed at upgrading and expanding the fleets of regional carriers. The transfer of this equipment helps to maintain and enhance transport accessibility to remote areas,” the holding stated.

Ten new Mi-8MTV-1 helicopters are destined for UTair-Helicopter Services, which operates the largest fleet of Mi-8MTV-1 and Mi-8AMT aircraft in the Russian Federation. These helicopters will be utilised for passenger and cargo transport, medical evacuation flights (medevacs), and to serve the needs of the oil and gas industry. The remaining four helicopters have been allocated to Converse Avia, Komiaviatrans, LIDER, and the 2nd Arkhangelsk United Aviation Squadron.

During 2024, Russian Helicopters Holding supplied GTLK with a total of 40 multi-purpose Mi-8MTV-1 helicopters. This equipment has been distributed to various air carriers, including Aviation of Kolyma, Vologda Aviation Enterprise, Vityaz-Aero, and a number of other companies.

“The helicopters produced under the contract with GTLK are equipped with the necessary equipment for a wide range of aviation tasks. At the end of December, the plant completed its 2024 production plan and has commenced manufacturing helicopter equipment for further contracts,” Nikolai Yakovlev, General Director of the Kazan Helicopter Plant, at the handover ceremony said. He added that deliveries of Mi-8 series helicopters to regional airlines and other customers will continue in 2025.

The Mi-8MTV-1 is capable of lifting up to 4 tonnes of cargo, including oversized and specialised loads. If required, the helicopter can be fitted with a medical module for carrying out medevac flights. The aircraft’s flight and technical characteristics and operational capabilities allow these machines to be used in extreme conditions and with autonomous basing on unprepared landing sites.

In December 2024, two Mi-8MTV-1 helicopters completed a transfer flight from Kazan to Magadan, covering more than 6,000 kilometres in difficult weather conditions and severe frosts over four days, thereby confirming their reliability and high quality of design and assembly.
