Aerospace Corporation Airbus has released the sixth and final version of its Beluga XL heavy transport aircraft, designed to transport large aircraft structures between the Corporation’s production plants.
The aircraft, officially designated A330-700L, is a deep modification of the A330 wide-body airliner, designed to replace the old A300-600ST Beluga fleet.
Airbus has five Beluga ST aircraft in service, and originally intended to build five Beluga XLs. But later it was decided to expand the fleet to six aircraft of this type. All six aircraft are powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines.
The first Airbus Beluga XL made its maiden flight almost exactly five years ago, in July 2018.
