The test facility of the Omsk Engine Design Bureau (a branch of ODK-Saturn PJSC – OMKB) will be commissioned six months earlier than planned: in the first quarter of 2024, Andrey Posazhennikov, Minister of Industry and Scientific and Technical Development of the Omsk Region, told TASS.

“Implementation of our Motor Design Bureau (OMKB) project is ahead of schedule, completion and commissioning somewhere in the first quarter of 2024. This is a project to build a test centre, about six months ahead of schedule,” Posazhennikov said.

OMKB is going to allocate 2.2 billion roubles for the construction of an aircraft gas turbine engine test facility. The project has been included in the regional register of large-scale investment projects. The test benches will be designed to test both production products and new developments. They will be equipped with a supercharging system to simulate flight conditions and automated data collection and processing systems. Implementation of the project will ensure timely fulfilment of the state defence order by the enterprise.

The Omsk Design Bureau was established in 1956 at the engine-building plant named after Baranov engine plant for the development of piston and gas-turbine engines. In 1993, it was reorganized into OMKB JSC.
