On December 12, 2024, Yury Slyusar, acting governor of the Rostov region, announced in his TG channel the flight of the second Be-200ChS (Be-200ES) amphibious aircraft from Russia to Algeria. It was built at the Beriev Aviation Research and Development Complex in Taganrog. It was built at the Beriev Taganrog Aviation Research and Technical Complex (TANTK) under the contract of 2021 for the production of four Be-200ES aircraft for the Algerian Ministry of National Defense.
The first Be-200ES aircraft (s/n 03-13) produced for Algeria was originally the first of two Be-200ES aircraft ordered under a December 2020 contract for the manufacture and delivery of two Be-200ES amphibious aircraft, with delivery by December 1, 2022.
“Under this contract, TANTK started building aircraft with serial numbers 03-13 and 03-14, but then the first of them was completed for Algeria. The second aircraft ordered for the Ministry of Emergency Situations has not been completed yet,” the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies (CAST, @bmpd) explained.
Rollout of the first Be-200ES aircraft with 7T-VPV registration for Algeria took place at TANTK in December 2022. The first flight was performed on February 28, 2023, and the aircraft was handed over to the customer in May. The export version of the ES is equipped with a fully glass cockpit in English and equipment adapted for operation in tropical conditions.
According to CAST, the second aircraft for Algeria with registration 7T-VPN has s/n 03-12. This aircraft is the 20th in the Be-200 family. The aircraft was scheduled for delivery by the end of 2023, with the remaining two to be delivered during 2024. However, the second Be-200ES was actually delivered to the Algerian Ministry of Defense only in December 2024.
On August 17, 2021, the Algerian Ministry of National Defense announced that, in accordance with instructions from the country’s President Abdelmajid Tebboun, it had begun negotiations with firefighting aircraft manufacturers and selected the Russian Be-200 aircraft. On August 23, 2021, Yuri Slyusar, head of the United Aircraft Corporation, confirmed receipt of an official request from Algeria for the delivery of four Be-200ChS amphibious aircraft.
