Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced that 41.8 billion rubles will be allocated from the National Welfare Fund for the construction of the Tu-214 medium-range narrow-body twin-engine passenger aircraft.
As part of his working visit to Kazan, the Russian Prime Minister held a meeting on the development of the aircraft industry and toured the production facilities of the Kazan aircraft plant, accompanied by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, head of Rostec Sergei Chemezov, general director of UAC Yuri Slyusar and managing director of Tupolev Vadim Korolev, and also the head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.
It is necessary to actively increase the construction of the aircraft, the prime minister said, suggesting that the meeting discuss further steps and additional funding for the direction.
“It is important to actively increase the construction of such airliners. Today we will discuss further steps to support including the project, as well as the expansion of the direction and the additional financing required for this,” the head of the government said at the meeting, RIA Novosti reported.
“The Tu-214 serial production project is very important. In agreement with the president, I would like to inform you of the decision that was made the day before – this is the allocation of 41.8 billion rubles from the National Welfare Fund for this project,” Mishustin said.
He reminded that in 2025 Kazan aircraft plant will have to produce ten Tu-214s per year. According to him, the pilots, with whom the prime minister had a chance to talk, say that the reliability of the plane is not questionable.
