An-26 could not take off from Irkutsk due to spontaneous engine shutdown

On April 2, when the AN-26 aircraft of Angara Airlines was moving from its parking place to the pre-start, the right engine shut down while warming up. Due to this the captain of the aircraft made a decision to return to stop.

There were 34 passengers on board, including one minor, and six crew members. The flight from Irkutsk to Bodaibo was made on the reserve aircraft. The departure delay was 1 hour and 34 minutes. This was reported by the press service of the East Siberian transport prosecutor’s office.

Baikal-Angara Transport Prosecutor’s Office is checking compliance with the legislation on flight safety and observance of passengers’ rights in connection with the delayed flight.

“The transport prosecutor’s office will check all the circumstances of the incident, compliance with the rights of passengers, if there are grounds, prosecutorial response measures will be taken,” the press service of the East Siberian Transport Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.
