Russian Helicopters is planning to certify a new modification of the Ka-32A11M firefighting helicopter by the end of this year. A representative of the holding told about it at the International Military-Technical Forum Army-2023.
“A set of certification test flights of the Ka-32A11M helicopter has been completed, bench tests of the machine’s units and assemblies are being conducted, as well as testing of on-board equipment for stability in operation under the influence of electromagnetic fields of high intensity,” the holding said.
The aircraft can extinguish fires at sub-zero temperatures. For this purpose, the Ka-32A11M is equipped with a domestic fire extinguishing system SP-32. Electric heating ensures water discharge and operation of the water cannon at temperatures as low as minus 20°C.
The tank of the system is filled with four tons of water in 60 seconds, 400 liters of foam agent can be added additionally. The patented digitally controlled flap system can open the compartments alternately and adjust the opening angles, thus controlling the intensity and duration of water discharge.
“We plan to obtain a type certificate for the modernized aircraft by the end of the year based on the results of the tests,” Anton Korolev, deputy general director for civil helicopter sales of the holding company, said during the presentation of the helicopter.
