At the Army-2023 International Military-Technical Forum, the Astron Optical and Mechanical Design Bureau presented a modernized reconnaissance UAV-400T drone equipped with a shaped-charge ammunition drop system.
Earlier, in early July, the UAV-400T drone was demonstrated at the Innoprom international exhibition in Yekaterinburg. Then it was reported that Astron plans to modernize the UAV-400T: to increase its range and make the device more resistant to electronic warfare.
“It is clear to everyone that observation drones are very necessary and important for the army, but they also require defeating means. Therefore, it was decided to make some improvements, to modernize the UAV-400T, equipping it with a system of dropping combat parts. The upgraded “flying thermal imager” was presented for the first time at the Army-2023 forum. Our vehicles are already being used in the area of the Northern Military District, including the modernized version,” a representative of the developer told TASS.
The drone is equipped with a thermal imaging reconnaissance channel and is designed to search, detect, recognize and determine the coordinates of targets in day and night conditions. “In the course of finalization, the device was equipped with a system of aiming drop of four shaped-charge ammunition weighing 200 grams each,” the Design Bureau specified.
The UAV’s takeoff weight is up to 1.7 kg. The radius of action – up to 5 km. Flight altitude above the launch site – up to 3 km. The range of enemy manpower detection – up to 350 m during the day and up to 400 m at night. Range of detection of equipment – up to 800 meters.
