The second prototype of the composite wing caisson for the CR929 wide-body Russian-Chinese aircraft, designed for endurance testing, is planned to be demonstrated at MAKS-2023, Kirill Sypalo, General Director of Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI), said during a meeting with journalists at TsAGI Press Day.

After the demonstration at the air show, in August 2023 the prototype caisson will be put on the stand for endurance tests.

К. Sypalo also noted that the bench at TsAGI will perform strength tests of the first prototype of the wing caisson prototype. “We will try to break the caisson to determine the limit of its strength. But, according to preliminary calculations, we will hardly manage to do it, the wing turns out very strong,” he added.

In the words of the head of TsAGI the tests of the wing caisson prototype is the important stage in the creation of the wing from composite materials for the perspective wide-bodied airliner.
