The amount of funds allocated unscheduled to support the aviation industry amid sanctions pressure is forecast to exceed 40 billion roubles in 2023, head of Rosaviatsia Dmitry Yadrov said during a meeting of the Federation Council’s Committee on Economic Policy.

He stressed that the funds have been allocated to compensate Russian airlines’ expenses amid external sanctions, support the air traffic organisation system and temporarily closed airports in Central Russia and the south of the country. Thanks to the support of the authorities, the fleet of imported aircraft has been preserved, the process of de-registration of domestic airlines’ aircraft abroad is also ongoing.

At the same time, the head of Rosaviatsia noted that in 2024 the passenger traffic of Russian airlines is expected to reach 104.5 million people, while the agency’s forecast for the current year is 103 million passengers.

“It is important to note that ensuring the stated passenger traffic figures is directly related to the Russian aviation industry, next year we should carry 104.5 million passengers,” Dmitry Yadrov said. He added that Rosaviatsia continues to work on the development of ground infrastructure. Thus, construction and modernisation of 15 facilities within the framework of the federal project for the development of regional airports are planned for 2023.

Speaking about the renewal of the fleet of Russian air carriers, Dmitry Yadrov said that 1,800 modern domestically produced aeroplanes and helicopters are expected to be delivered by 2030. “Rosaviatsia specialists are already working on certification of several new types of aircraft: these are import-substituted Superjet, Baikal and other types,” the head of Rosaviatsia said.
