United Engine Corporation handed over to airlines, in the fleet of which operate aircraft SSJ100 batch of spark plugs for the engine SaM146. This was reported in the press service of Rostec State Corporation.
The problem with the supply of spare parts, consumables and components for the French-Russian SaM146 TPDD arose after the PowerJet joint venture stopped supplying and supporting its powerplants in Russia, breaking long partnership and co-operation ties with ODK-Saturn on its own initiative. The work on import substitution of spark plugs was carried out by the Ufa-based Molniya Research and Production Enterprise.
At the end of November, the Rybinsk-based company ODK-Saturn, which previously produced and is currently responsible for the support of the SaM146 engine, received an additional type certificate from Rosaviatsia for this propulsion system with domestic spark plugs. During the certification process, the necessary tests were carried out, including autonomous tests in a thermobarochamber and powerplant tests on the aircraft. The test results showed that the new spark plugs fulfil all requirements and have the necessary service life characteristics.
Igor Chistyunin, Director of the SaM146 programme at ODK-Saturn, noted that the creation of the new spark plugs is one of the many projects that have contributed to the reliable operation of the engines. Thanks to the work done by ODK-Saturn specialists, the total operating time of the engines installed on SSJ100 aircraft has exceeded three million flight hours. The scheduled flight reliability indicator for the engines was 99.92 per cent.
On 7 July 2023, according to the Spark-Interfax service, two enterprises belonging to Technodinamika JSC – Molniya and Aggregate Plant – merged. The production of new spark plugs for the SaM146 engine is carried out at the Ufa Aggregate Production Association under the order of ODK-Saturn.
