The Obninsk-based Technologiya Research and Production Enterprise has launched serial production of cockpit glazing for the MS-21 aircraft. By the end of 2024 it is planned to deliver 12 sets of products to the customer, and by 2030 – to increase production to more than 70 sets per year, reported the press service of Rostec State Corporation.
The bird-resistant glazing of the MC-21 cabin is made of high-strength pentaplex based on monolithic polycarbonate. This type of multilayer material consists of two outer sheets of silicate glass, a polycarbonate layer and two bonding layers. The glazing set includes front, side and rear glass blocks equipped with electric heating, which prevents icing and fogging in various climatic conditions.

The company’s production capacities allow it to meet the MS-21 production schedule and produce high quality glazing. The competences of the Solinov NITS subsidiary are used for the project implementation. The glazing is made of Russian materials, meeting all safety and comfort standards for the crew. ONPP Technologiya is one of the leaders in the production of structural optics products for aviation equipment in Russia. More than 100 types of products are manufactured at the enterprise, which occupies 45% of the market. The enterprise also has rights to more than 30 intellectual properties related to the development of glazing for aviation equipment.
Technologiya launched a new section for aircraft glass strengthening
At the end of December 2023, Rostec announced that Technologia had launched a new production site for ion exchange peening of glass used in the aviation industry. Ion-exchange strengthening makes the silicate glass used in the composition 6-8 times stronger than conventional glass. This technology is applicable in cases when thermal hardening does not provide the necessary strength characteristics, as well as in the production of products with complex geometry or thin nominal values.
