The planes were made at the Novosibirsk Aircraft Factory named after P. P. Chkalov. V.P. Chkalov, passed a set of ground and flight tests and were handed over to the Russian Defense Ministry, the United Aircraft Corporation said.
“The Su-34 frontline bombers form an important part of the striking power of the Russian frontline aviation. The Su-34s have enhanced combat capabilities for the use of advanced aerial warfare weapons, which makes it possible to increase the range of strikes against ground and surface targets, expanding the conditions and accuracy of bombing,” the UAC commented.
According to the annual FlightGlobal World air forces 2023 report, the Russian Air Force had 127 Su-34s at the beginning of 2023.
During 2022, the Novosibirsk Aviation Plant has produced ten Su-34M bombers (Su-34NVO). The planes have been delivered in three batches during the year: four aircraft in June, three in November and three more in late December. The total number of Su-34s built is believed to have reached 155, including seven prototypes and pre-production aircraft.
