Russian Foreign Ministry: Russia will respond to confiscation of An-124 100 percent. Wait for it…

The launch of the confiscation procedure, citing Canada’s domestic sanctions laws, of an An-124 aircraft of the Russian airline Volga-Dnepr illegally held at Toronto airport will not go without consequences, an answer will come when the opportunity presents itself, commented Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

Earlier, in early June, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited Ukraine and at a meeting with Zelenskyy, he announced that he would hand over the detained An-124 to Kiev.

“Continuing the “tradition” of its predecessors, who gave asylum in Canada to Nazi accomplices among the hardcore Banderaites, the Trudeau regime, at the behest of the US, is setting up the Ukrainian authorities for a war with Russia until “the last Ukrainian”. This includes promises of military and financial aid, which is not as generous in reality, and promises to reward the zeal with stolen Russian property,” the Russian Foreign Ministry’s spokesman said in a commentary.

The An-124, which was on a humanitarian flight commissioned by the Canadian government to deliver anticoagulation drugs to Toronto, was essentially taken hostage with the far-reaching goal, as it now turns out, of robbing the aircraft and handing it over to the Kiev regime

“The Russian side warns that the practical implementation of this decision will have the most serious consequences for Russian-Canadian relations, already teetering on the brink of rupture through the fault of official Ottawa. Attempts to use local judicial processes to cover up this illegal and shameful action would not give it even the appearance of legitimacy. We reserve the right to retaliate, guided by the principle of reciprocity,” Maria Zakharova said.

On the air of Radio Sputnik, she explained that the plane detained in Toronto did not violate anyone’s airspace, was not carrying contraband, has no financial violations, and its arrest was linked to the start of the SAO.

She recalled that the same thing happened with Russian real estate in New York, Washington – on US soil – where the motivation was the Russian Federation’s pseudo-interference in elections in the United States. “There was nothing to do with the law here. They just took it away, imposed some restrictions on its use and did not even allow all these years to come and conduct an inventory of the condition of these facilities,” the diplomat said.

And Russia will not leave the theft of the An-124 unanswered, she added. “The answer will be – a hundred percent, so that no one doubts. That answer will come. How and when – when it is convenient, when the occasion is right, a decision will be made. You see, we respond to everything,” Maria Zakharova concluded.
