St. Petersburg enterprise ODK-Klimov has increased the indicators of the life of the helicopter engine TV7-117V. Based on the results of the work carried out, the main change was approved from Rosaviatsia, the press service of ODK reports.

“The number of engine cycles has been planned to increase to ensure the Mi-38 helicopter programme, testing and further serial operation,” the statement said. Also, Rosaviatsia has lifted restrictions on the engine operation only with the engine’s air-conditioning system selection on, which is supplied to the cockpit. The powerplant operation and gas-dynamic parameters were also checked during flight tests of the helicopter.

“TV7-117V engine is designed for multi-purpose helicopters of Mi-38 type. The approvals of major changes to the type design received this month are aimed at expanding the operating conditions of the TV7-117V engine. We are using our experience in improving helicopter modifications in our work on aircraft modifications TV7-117ST-01/02, which are designed for domestic regional jets,” commented Vsevolod Eliseev, General Designer of ODK-Klimov.

The approved changes are the next stages of the plan to improve the performance of the TV7-117B and the entire family of TV7-117 engines. Earlier, the engineers of ODK-Klimov implemented an emergency mode on the TV7-117V engine to achieve a power of 3,750 hp, which is the best performance in relation to take-off power obtained in the engine family and on the market, ODK claims.
