The first flight of the Superjet New prototype aircraft with Russian onboard radio-electronic equipment will take place in May, Alexander Voit, director general of the Ulyanovsk Instrument Design Bureau (UKBP, part of the KRET), told reporters.

“The first flight of the SSJ-New* is scheduled for May. Everything the pilots see in the cockpit is made in UKBP, everything that signals to the pilot is also made. This is the most significant event which we are all looking forward to this year”, Prime quotes him as saying.

He added that “airborne radio-electronic equipment, indication systems, control panels, external, internal lighting equipment – this is now the main project that is implemented both at our company and in the country.”

At the same time, the United Aircraft Corporation reported that VASO has handed over the next units for PD-8 engines.

“From the aggregate-assembly shop, which is engaged in the production of nacelles, the input part of the third set was sent. The nacelles have left for autonomous bird impact tests,” the UAC press service said in a statement.

“The flaps are now in the works at the factory for dissection and testing at the flight laboratory. In the near future, it is planned to deliver two more engine sets for factory flight tests as part of the SSJ-New aircraft,” explained shop chief Andrei Boldyrev.

* The first flight model of the SSJ-New aircraft with serial number 97001 features Russian landing gear, onboard systems, cabling, French-Russian SaM146 engines and a domestic auxiliary power unit TA18-100C. In March, the airplane was delivered under current.
