The Ka-52M reconnaissance and attack helicopter with a new sub-fuselage all-weather round-view radar station, with the help of which it will be able to conduct all-weather round-the-clock reconnaissance and provide target designation, will soon be tested in the area of a special military operation. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to an informed source.
“Ka-52M attack helicopters will receive a new radar round-view station operating in the centimetre range. These stations will allow the helicopters to detect a wide range of air and ground targets such as enemy aircraft, helicopters and UAVs, armoured vehicles, artillery positions, concentrations of manpower and other military objects, including in high-detail radio vision mode. The combat capabilities of the helicopter with the new radar are planned to be tested in the NWO zone,” the source said.
He added that “with the new radar, Ka-52M attack helicopters will be able to conduct all-weather and round-the-clock reconnaissance and target designation, in conditions of strong natural and artificial radio interference, including the ability to detect targets with low radar contrast.”
According to the source, with the new radar, the Ka-52M will be able to strike small enemy targets of the “tank” type with Vihr or Izdeliye 305 missiles in conditions of zero optical visibility using its own target designation data, without using external sources of information on the coordinates of enemy objects.
