The aircraft maintenance and repair provider has successfully passed an audit and received approval from Rosaviatsia under the FAP-285 certificate to perform repair work on landing gear struts for the A320 aircraft family at its own hangar complexes at Sheremetyevo Airport.

“As part of the audit, the work of departments, professional competencies of employees and internal regulatory documents of the organisation were checked, production, warehouse and office premises were inspected. “Aeroflot Technics has fully confirmed compliance with the regulator’s requirements,” the company’s press service said.

Previously, the company only performed replacement of the front and main landing gear struts on A320 aircraft, now the new shop will perform their full maintenance, including overhaul. Aeroflot Technics has all the necessary equipment and competences of engineering and technical personnel to perform such works, the press service explained.

In accordance with the aircraft manufacturer’s operating manual, scheduled detailed inspection of landing gear struts on A320 family aircraft is performed once every 10 years, and for landing gear manufactured after 2016 – once every 12 years or every 20,000 flight cycles, whichever comes first.

The landing gear strut repair shop will fully meet the needs of Aeroflot Group’s airlines once it reaches production capacity. In the future, Aeroflot Technics plans to expand the tolerances for repair of landing gear struts for other types of aircraft.
