The area of the natural fire in Gelendzhik has reached 30 hectares, the aeromobile group of the territorial subdivision of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia consisting of helicopters and amphibious aircraft Be-200 is working on the site, as reported in the telegram channel of the department.
On 29 August in Gelendzhik a forest area of 1.5 hectares in the Kupriyanova cleft microdistrict on Rechnaya Street caught fire. Strong wind with gusts up to 25-30 metres per second contributed to the spread of the fire. The fire has spread, according to the authorities, to the territory of Bobrukovaya Slit.
Two Be-200 emergency planes were involved in extinguishing the fire in Gelendzhik. According to the latest data, the area of the fire is already 118 hectares. More than 400 people and 70 units of equipment, including two Be-200 aircrafts and two MI-8 helicopters of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, are involved in fire suppression. Today the helicopters have already dropped more than 120 tonnes of water on the fire.
The forces and means of the department are controlling the situation. Firefighters continue to extinguish the fire, protecting settlements and infrastructure. There is no threat to infrastructure facilities. There are no casualties, reports the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
