The main and front landing gear of the SJ-100 regional airplane underwent performance tests in the research department of dynamic strength of aircraft of the SibNIA named after S.A. Chaplygin.

According to the press service of SibNIA, dynamic tests of the main and front landing gear elements were conducted under the Certification Test Program in order to determine the real values of the shock absorption characteristics of the supports and confirm their compliance with the design data at normal temperature of 25±10°C, elevated temperature of +55°C and reduced temperature of -54°C.

“During the performance test, the main and front landing gear supports absorbed the specified loads, and the scored drops were performed without damping adjustment. The prototypes of SJ-100 landing gear supports have sufficient serviceability and meet all the requirements of the Certification Basis. According to the test results, a conclusion on flight safety has been prepared for the beginning of the flight test program”, – said in SibNIA.

They added that at present the institute continues dynamic tests of the main and front landing gear supports for multiple resets to confirm the assigned life and tests of the front support to determine the parameters of oscillations such as “shimmy”.

SibNIA’s Research Department of Aircraft Dynamic Strength is the only laboratory in Russia that can perform dynamic tests of landing gear struts for all classes of aircraft. In-situ tests of landing gear struts allow obtaining real values of the required shock absorption characteristics and confirming their compliance with the requirements of regulatory documents in the entire range of expected aircraft operating conditions, which together ensure flight safety.
