Rosaviatsia issued a type certificate to PJSC IL for modifications of the IL-76 transport aircraft. The document covers the IL-76TD-90 (modification of the IL-76MD-90A aircraft) and IL-76TD-90VD aircraft. To obtain the certificate, the company has carried out extensive work on systematisation of design documentation, which was submitted for examination to the Federal Autonomous Establishment ‘Aviaregister of Russia’.

The certification of the IL-76TD-90 confirms the improved flight performance of the aircraft, modern avionics and a crew reduced to three people. These changes will allow the aircraft to operate on all international air routes.

According to Dmitry Yadrov, head of Rosaviatsia, the type certificate will increase the IL-76’s export potential. ‘The receipt of such a document with a data card of the type certificate by IL Company will undoubtedly allow increasing the export potential of the aircraft, fixing the flight characteristics and operational limitations of the machine, as well as documents defining the type design,’ commented Dmitry Yadrov.

He also noted that obtaining the certificate will allow for more transparent implementation and documentation of subsequent changes to the aircraft design, which is a positive effect, given IL-76 PJSC’s long-term plans for the development of the IL-76 programme.

He added that the potential order portfolio exceeds 100 aircraft. Deliveries of new Il-76TD-90A are scheduled to begin in 2028.
