The Irkutsk Aviation Plant is building the first serial MC-21-310 aircraft. Now 18 such aircrafts are in production. Andrey Boginsky, Director General of PJSC Yakovlev, told TASS in an interview.
According to him, six aircraft will join Aeroflot’s fleet, another 12 will join Russia.
“They are all at different stages of production. The first five airframes are ready, assembled, installation of domestic systems and units has begun. In parallel, the certification process is underway,” he said.
The head of Yakovlev also said that deliveries of the MC-21 will begin in 2024. The first two serial SJ-100s will be ready this year. The possibility of co-operation on MC-21 and SJ-100 projects with India is not excluded.
In addition, Andrey Boginsky specified that for two other projects that are not in Yakovlev’s area of responsibility, the Il-114-300 and Tu-214 aircraft, the company will be engaged in after-sales service, marketing and work with suppliers.
Yakovlev intends to determine the prospects for further development of the civil division after a broad and deep market analysis. The import-substituted MC-21 may receive either the MC-21-200 or MC-21-400 version.
