Yakovlev PJSC is expanding its production infrastructure in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, with a key element being a logistics hub covering approximately 11,000 sq m, designed for warehousing and preparing PD-8 engines for installation on SJ-100 aircraft. This was announced in his Telegram channel by the Head of the Khabarovsk Territory, Dmitry Demeshin.

“This will be a warehousing complex with an assembly area for SJ-100 aircraft engines. We discussed the project details in Moscow with Vadim Badekha, Director General of the United Aircraft Corporation,” reads Dmitry Demeshin’s post.

“Yakovlev PJSC’s new project involves the construction of a logistics centre covering approximately 11,000 sq m, with an investment of RUB 2.3 billion. This will be a warehousing complex and engine preparation facility for installation on the SJ-100 aircraft,” added UAC.

Komsomolsk-on-Amur already hosts a centre of specialisation for the assembly of doors and hatches for civil airliners, including the MC-21, SJ-100, Il-114-300, and Tu-214. This specialisation will enhance quality and standardise the manufacturing processes of critical structural components.

“The existing warehouse complex’s floor space was utilised in the implementation of this project, and an additional 138 jobs were created. Further increases in headcount are planned to support the expansion of the aircraft production programme,” noted UAC’s Head, Vadim Badekha.

Concentrating expertise within a single centre helps optimise the use of resources and facilitates the exchange of experience between specialists involved in various aviation projects. In parallel with the creation of new production capabilities, active work is underway to prepare for flight trials of the import-substituted version of the SJ-100 aircraft, equipped with PD-8 engines.

Ground testing of the powerplant is currently nearing completion, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade anticipates receiving approval for the commencement of flight trials. To accelerate the aircraft’s certification process, two prototype aircraft will be used in the trials. Their maiden flights are expected to begin in the first half of 2025.
