Over the year, more than 80 million passengers worldwide were transported using Rostec’s reservation system. Alexander Nazarov, Deputy CEO of Rostec State Corporation, commented
“1 November marks exactly one year since Russia’s largest airline Aeroflot completed the transition to the Leonardo system. At that time our IT specialists had to “pull” more than 3 million active bookings into the system at one time. Migration of such a large scale in an extremely short period of time is an absolutely unique situation for global aviation. The risk of a complete shutdown of traffic in our country motivated us to work quickly and without errors, and we coped with this task.
Now Leonardo is used by more than 60 companies both in Russia and abroad, including Red Wings, Pobeda, Yamal, Belarus’ Belavia, Kazakhstan’s Qazaq Air and others. In early 2024, Venezuela’s Conviasa SA will join them; the carrier’s specialists have already been trained. The system is accredited in more than 20 countries. In 2023, with the help of Leonardo, airlines carried about 80.1 million passengers.
I would like to note that unprecedented cyberattacks, of which we have recorded dozens in recent months, have not been able to critically damage the system. During the year of operation, the total downtime did not exceed 40 minutes, and each time we managed to quickly restore operations after the attacks while maintaining the usual level of comfort for passengers and airlines.
I am confident that Leonardo will continue to ensure uninterrupted operation of the Russian air transport industry,” said Alexander Nazarov, Deputy Director General of Rostec.
