Representatives of Conviasa SA, Venezuela’s largest air carrier, have started training on the Russian ticket booking system Leonardo, created jointly by RT-Project Technologies, RT-Transcom and Sirena-Travel. Venezuela has become the first country in Latin America where Leonardo will be implemented in early 2024, the state corporation’s press service said.

“During the visit from 16 to 29 October, foreign specialists will receive all the necessary instructions and consultations, as well as get acquainted with the experience of implementing Leonardo in Russian airlines. In addition, the representatives of Conviasa SA will be demonstrated the work of the system at the sites of leading travel agencies in Russia,” said the Rostec representative.

The visit of the Venezuelan delegation is a continuation of the training programme for the implementation of Leonardo in the infrastructure of Conviasa SA, which started on October 11 in Caracas. At that time, representatives of Rostec-controlled companies and Sirena Travel presented the functionality of the solution to the management of Conviasa SA. A presentation was also held, which was attended by more than 150 representatives of the airline and travel agencies in Venezuela. The event included a demonstration of the solution’s wide range of features, including ticketing on the carrier’s website, passenger check-in, modules for travel agencies and more.

The IT director of Conviasa SA highly appreciated the Russian digital product, and a contract was signed to supply the system to the Venezuelan carrier in April 2023.

According to Rostec deputy head Alexander Nazarov, Leonardo will allow Conviasa SA to promote its business in other countries on the continent.

“The advantage of our solution is that it provides a high level of security for passengers’ personal data and is resistant to cyberattacks and hacking. “Leonardo will enable the airline to improve flight safety and eliminate the threat of being disconnected from booking systems by unfriendly states. Our solution is currently working in a number of countries, for example, it is used by airlines in Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and Belarus. The strategic destination for this product is Latin America and, above all, Venezuela,” said Alexander Nazarov.
