The Algerian Air Force has published pictures of Be-200 aircraft during crew training. The Russian embassy in Egypt, which published the photo, commented, four Be-200 amphibian aircraft will be delivered to Algeria to fight forest fires, local pilots have already started training on them.
“Our country will supply Algeria with four floating aircraft to fight devastating forest fires,” the embassy’s Telegram channel said.
The first Be-200ES amphibian aircraft (Be-200ES), intended for Algeria’s Ministry of National Defence, was rolled out at Beriev Aircraft Company in late December 2022. The aircraft became the 19th aircraft of the Be-200 family to be manufactured. The ES version is equipped with a fully glass cockpit in English and a tropicalized version of the equipment.
Algerian media previously reported that the country will have two Be-200ES by the summer of 2023, with two more to follow. The amphibians will be flown by Algerian crews who have been trained in Russia and serviced by technicians who also have been trained in Russia. One of the pictures shows two Be-200s, from which it can be concluded that two machines are already being trained by Algerian pilots – in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea.

Algeria draws attention to the versatility of the Be-200, they plan to use it for maritime search and rescue operations as well as for transportation of personnel or cargo.
On August 17, 2021, the Ministry of National Defence of Algeria issued the press release stating that in pursuance of the order of the president of the republic, Abdelmajid Tebboun, it entered into negotiations with manufacturers of fire-fighting aircraft and opted for the Russian Be-200. On 23 August 2021, UAC chief Yuri Slyusar reported that Algeria sent an official request for delivery of four Be-200 amphibians. The conclusion of this contract has not been officially announced.
