Concern Radioelectronic Technologies (JSC KRET) presented the Sapphire electronic warfare (EW) system at the Dubai Airshow 2023. This device is designed for effective defense against drones, including micro- and minidrones, and can be used both in urban areas and industrial facilities, the company said.
The Sapphire complex offers a reliable solution to prevent drone attacks on transportation infrastructure, government agencies and industrial enterprises. It has been successfully tested and demonstrated high efficiency in the defense of civilian objects. “Sapphire” is able to detect and counteract virtually all types of existing drones, including those produced illegally. In addition, the complex effectively copes with micro- and minidrones weighing up to 250 grams.
“Nowadays, the defense of strategic facilities from drone attacks and surveillance is becoming a particularly urgent task. KRET offers a highly effective and reliable solution to this problem. At Dubai Airshow 2023, Sapphire will be presented to potential foreign buyers for the first time,” a representative of the concern commented to the Russian Aviation website.
The main principle of the Sapphire complex is to create interference, blocking control channels and data transmission from drones, as well as suppressing their onboard satellite radio navigation equipment. The complex realizes the principle of “detection-piloting-identification-radio suppression” in the entire frequency range of UAV equipment and their control points. This distinguishes Sapphire from similar devices that operate only in certain frequency ranges and are often unable to detect a drone beforehand.
