Denis Manturov, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, said at a meeting of the Council for Strategic Development and National Projects that it will take two years to fully replace foreign components in Tu-214, MS-21 and Superjet aircraft. This strategic decision is aimed at achieving unprecedented independence in the aviation industry from foreign suppliers.

Manturov emphasised the importance of comprehensive support for aircraft and shipbuilding, including funding from the National Welfare Fund (NWF). “We want to achieve in these industries independence unprecedented for the world practice. In particular, in the next two years we will replace imported components and units in the line of medium-haul aircraft Tu-214, Superjet and MS-21,” he said.

The replacement of foreign components is only one aspect of the strategic development of the domestic aviation industry. Work is actively underway to develop the Ladoga (TVRS-44) and Baikal (LMS-901) regional aircraft, as well as helicopters. These efforts are aimed at ensuring greater mobility in remote regions of the country.

The Deputy Prime Minister also noted significant progress in the field of aerial drones. Russia has already tested more than 40 models of drones for various applications. “We will scale up the civilian drones segment by improving airspace control systems. In parallel, reducing flight restrictions, supporting demand and achieving localisation of components and engines,” Manturov concluded.

These measures are part of Russia’s strategy to develop its own aviation industry. Replacing foreign components will allow the country not only to ensure independence, but also to offer competitive high-tech products on the global aircraft market.
