The Aero India 2025 airshow, scheduled to take place from the 10th to the 14th of February at Yelahanka Air Force Station in Bangalore, India, is set to be a key fixture in the aerospace industry calendar for the Asia-Pacific region. First established in 1996, the event traditionally brings together leading companies and experts from across the globe. This year, the organisers anticipate over 700 domestic and 140 international exhibitors.

The airshow programme includes not only a static display but also a packed flying display, which will feature Indian aerobatic teams, including the Sarang helicopter display team, renowned for their complex manoeuvres in the indigenously produced HAL Dhruv helicopters. However, the highlight will be the demonstration flights of the Russian Sukhoi Su-57 fifth-generation fighter, which has already made a name for itself at the Zhuhai Airshow in China in November 2024.

Aero India 2025 will provide a platform for comparing fifth-generation technologies. Initially, the American Lockheed Martin F-35 fifth-generation fighter was slated to participate in the flying display. Its appearance would have marked the first time it had shared the same venue with the Su-57. However, following the crash of an F-35 in Alaska, the application to participate in the flying display was withdrawn by the US side. This means the Su-57 will now be the sole fifth-generation fighter to feature in the Aero India 2025 flying programme.

TNI: Don’t listen to the naysayers. Russia has a real game-changing system in the Su-57

Beyond the flying display, the airshow will offer a comprehensive business programme, encompassing seminars and conferences. These events will serve as a platform for discussing topical issues in the aviation sector, such as the development of gas turbine engines, the implementation of new materials, and the adoption of digital technologies. Attendees will be able to share best practices and forge connections for future projects.

Aero India 2025 is poised to showcase India’s growing role as a pivotal player in the global aerospace industry. The nation is actively developing its own aerospace manufacturing capabilities, including the production of both military and civil aircraft, and is collaborating with leading global manufacturers. The airshow will demonstrate the achievements of Indian industry and its integration into the global aerospace landscape.
