The Gagarin Aviation Plant in Komsomolsk-on-Amur has manufactured and handed over to the Russian Defence Ministry another batch of new Su-35S multirole fighters. The aircraft underwent a cycle of ground and flight tests in various operating modes and flew from the KnAAZ airfield to the place of duty, the press service of the United Aircraft Corporation said.
“This is not the last delivery of aircraft systems this year,” commented Vladimir Artyakov, First Deputy Director General of Rostec State Corporation, on the delivery of the next combat vehicles to the Russian Air Force.
The Su-35 is an ultra-maneuverable fighter of the 4++ generation. The aircraft is designed to gain air supremacy, destroy ground and surface targets at any time of day in simple and complex weather conditions at long distances from the home airfield.
Distinctive features of the aircraft are:
▪️ propulsion system based on new engines with a digital control system and controlled thrust vectoring, which significantly improves the machine’s flight and manoeuvring characteristics;
▪️ long-range information and targeting systems;
▪️ modern communication system and high-speed information exchange between the aircraft and ground control centres, as well as between aircraft;
▪️ highly effective long-range air-to-air and air-to-surface guided weapons;
▪️ highly effective electronic countermeasures and defence system.
“The Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aviation Plant is successfully carrying out work under the state defence order and on schedule fulfilling the deliveries stipulated by the contracts, meeting the needs of the Russian Air Force in modern aircraft systems,” said UAC CEO Yury Slyusar.
Earlier, at the end of September, UAC had already handed over to the Russian Air Force the next series of fifth-generation Su-57 and Su-35S fighters.
