On 12 September 2023, Ural Airlines’ A320 RA-73805 made an emergency landing in a wheat field near Novosibirsk due to a shortage of fuel.
The liner was originally flying from Sochi to Omsk, but its hydraulic system failed during the descent to the destination airport. The pilots decided to land at an alternate aerodrome and headed for Tolmachevo. However, they miscalculated the remaining fuel and failed to fly to Novosibirsk.
The plane has been standing in a clear field for four months. During this time there were different versions of its fate. There was also talk that it might be disassembled, transported to Tolmachevo by motor transport, and reassembled there. Sergey Skuratov, CEO of Ural Airlines, had earlier expressed hope that the plane would be restored and said that there were cases in the world practice when airliners were transported by detaching the wing consoles and engines.
It was also assumed that the aircraft after the onset of frost, will be able to take off from the field on its own, if the appropriate preparation of the runway, the size of the field allows this.
There were also suggestions that the aircraft could be used as a donor for other Airbus flying in the airline, as the cost of transportation and restoration of airworthiness would be very high for the airline’s budget. But it is already January 2024 and the question of the future fate or transport of the aircraft remains open.
Now it has become known that the airline has leased a field (https://aviation21.ru/dlya-stoyanki-a320-uralskie-avialinii-arendovali-na-god-pshenichnoe-pole/) in Ubinsky district of Novosibirsk region, where the aircraft is located, the contract is signed for a year. This was announced on 9 January by the head of the district Oleg Konyuk, according to Komsomolskaya Pravda in Novosibirsk. According to him, how the airline is going to evacuate the aircraft is not yet clear.
“Yes, there was a decision that the ground will freeze – they will take off. But the ground froze – they will not take off. The airline signed a lease agreement with the owner of the field for a year. And then – I don’t know what will happen, maybe they will conclude it for another year,” said the head of the district.
said the head of the district.
The amount paid for the lease is not disclosed, but according to KP-Novosibirsk, it is a little over a million roubles. For this money, the airline can use the place until next September. The site is under the supervision of a private security company and is surrounded by a profiled sheet fence.
