In today’s world, virtual reality (VR) technologies are finding increasing application in various industries, and the unmanned aircraft systems industry is no exception. ZALA AERO, a leader in the development of UAVs and barrage munitions, has introduced a new software and hardware complex for training pilots and operators of its systems. The complex is designed to practice piloting skills and prepare for various situations when piloting UAVs using virtual reality.
“One of the main advantages of the developed complex is the possibility of training in multi-user mode, where pilots and operators can interact with each other and simulate various routine and emergency situations. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, they can practise their skills even before real flights”, – said the press service of ZALA AERO.
The simulator allows simulating reconnaissance and combat sorties of any complexity, including recreating a digital model of real terrain and simulating various weather conditions, such as precipitation, wind strength and direction, air humidity, fog and darkness. This provides pilots and operators with realistic conditions and allows them to learn how to adapt to them.
In addition, the simulator simulates enemy countermeasures, including electronic reconnaissance and electronic warfare. This enables pilots of reconnaissance UAVs and operators of Lancet attack drones to effectively counter potential threats and develop behavioural strategies in complex situations.
The virtual reality module complements the simulator with realistic visualisation and animation of objects in a 3D virtual space. This allows pilots and operators to fully immerse themselves in the simulated environment and perform the full control cycle of the ZALA aircraft, from take-off to landing or target engagement. This approach provides the most realistic and fulfilling training possible to help improve the skills and performance of real pilots and operators.
“Virtual reality has become an integral part of modern training and ZALA AERO has successfully applied it to its simulator. Thanks to this innovative approach, pilots and operators can receive better and more realistic training, which ultimately improves their safety and efficiency. Virtual reality in the unmanned aircraft systems industry is a new stage in the development of training and preparation for complex situations, and ZALA AERO is one of the leaders in this field,” the company told the Russian Aviation website.
