Following the breakdown of logistics chains and business relations with Western partners, Volga-Dnepr Airlines has begun searching for an alternative to temperature-sensitive containers in China and has entered into an agreement to lease special RKN-AT1 containers for the carriage of pharmaceutical products. This was announced by the carrier’s press service.

The containers are capable of maintaining temperature conditions from 0 to 25°C, are designed for loading up to 963kg and are equipped with functions to record information on the condition of the cargo and key characteristics inside the cargo cabin, such as, temperature, humidity, opening of the cargo cabin and others.

“After careful work on risk assessment and searching for the most optimal option, we decided on a solution from a Chinese manufacturer. They are not inferior to their Western analogues, they are suitable for transporting vaccines, pills, biological products, pharma substances and other medical products. Our customers can rent them on both regular and charter routes, and the maximum number of containers on a single IL-76TD-90VD flight is up to sixteen,” said Maxim Astashin, Commercial Director of Volga-Dnepr Airlines. He added that the company is currently working on several requests from customers.

The company’s logistics service is working on options for moving containers to airports in the route network, including Sheremetyevo International Airport.
