Russian Helicopters Holding Company has organised mass production of the first domestically certified unmanned aerial vehicle system of the helicopter type, BAS-200, at the Kumertau Aviation Production Enterprise (KMPE) in Bashkortostan. The drone is presented at the stand of the republic at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the press service of the holding said.

BAS-200 is of great significance for Russia, it can perform tasks ranging from search and rescue operations and monitoring of the area to transportation of cargo, including in hard-to-reach territories. The UAV performed well during tests, even in the harsh weather conditions of the Far North. Many regions of Russia have shown interest in the UAV.

Rostec’s aviation complex noted that the serial production of the BAS-200 at KumAPP will eventually allow it to close the demand for these UAVs. The drone has a range of up to 400 kilometres when control is transferred from station to station. The duration of flight with a payload is up to four hours.

The BAS-200 was developed by the Mil and Kamov National Helicopter Engineering Centre. It is designed according to the classical single-rotor scheme and equipped with a rotary-piston engine. The unmanned aerial system comprises a ground control station with external pilot and target equipment operator workstations, two helicopter-type UAVs and a transport container. The UAV can be controlled up to 100km from the base station.

“The large payload of the drone ensures its versatility. The BAS-200 can carry a variety of monitoring equipment. This allows it to be used for multispectral imagery, which is used in geological exploration, forestry and agriculture, as well as for environmental and infrastructure monitoring. We are preparing contracts for the delivery of UAVs in the interests of various regional services, and we also receive requests from leasing companies,” said the holding company Russian Helicopters.

The primary missions of the UAV-200 are transportation of cargo, search and rescue operations, geological prospecting, forestry patrolling and monitoring of linear objects such as roads, railways, pipelines and power transmission lines. The unmanned helicopter can be fitted with a wide range of equipment – gravimeter, magnetometer, spectrometer, gyrostabilised optoelectronic system and other devices.
