By order of the head of Rosaviatsiya Alexander Neradko and in order to systematically work on the implementation of unmanned aircraft systems and the certification of these types of aviation equipment, a special unit for the certification of UAS was formed in the Federal Aviation Register of Russia. As of March 22, 2023, seven applications for a type certificate have been received, one of which is BAS-200, the press service of the Federal Air Transport Agency informed.

The BAS-200, developed by the Mil and Kamov Scientific Сenter, has successfully passed all stages of the certification testing program under the declared expected conditions of operation and received a type certificate in 2022. Now the work to obtain the additional type certificate for the Russian Post and other interested business organizations continues.

The experience of BAS-200 type certification will be used for further introduction of domestic unmanned vehicles into the business processes of the Russian economy.

Previously, the Aviaregister of Russia used ICAO’s recommended risk-based approach for UAV certification based on airworthiness requirements for manned aircraft.

At present, the Aviaregister of Russia, one of the first in the world practice, has prepared airworthiness standards for unmanned aircraft systems of airplane and helicopter type, which have been enacted by Rosaviatsiya.
