The Federal Air Transport Agency has extended the service life of the An-148-100 heavy cargo aircraft and its modifications from 10 to 30 years. Ilyushin Aviation Complex PJSC was issued an additional type certificate in terms of service life extension, Rosaviatsia reported.

“The service life of An-148-100 aircraft was extended in strict compliance with the air legislation and international practice jointly by Rosaviation and Aviaregistrar of Russia in the interests of Russian operators,” the Rosaviation underlined.

The work on confirmation of the possibility to extend the service life of the aircraft registered in the State Register of Civil Aircraft of Russia was promptly performed by IL PJSC as the developer of the modification due to unilateral withdrawal of the holder of the type certificate – Antonov ANTK (Ukraine) – from its obligations as a developer regarding the AN-148.

The Rosaviation drew attention to the fact that Il has deep competencies as a developer of aviation equipment. Also within the framework of additional certification work, assessment of technical condition of aircraft AN-148-100 in accordance with the Programme of Ageing Control was conducted jointly with the Branch of PJSC “IL”, Aircraft Maintenance Association of Ukraine as well as analysis of works conducted earlier by ANTONOV ASTC.

Results of this certification allow the AN-148-100 to continue its operation in several airlines of Russian civil aviation.

An-148-100 aircraft was manufactured at Voronezh Aircraft Plant, a branch of PJSC “Il” – VASO.
