Maintenance and repair provider Aeroflot Technics has replaced landing gear struts on Airbus A330 aircrafts, Aeroflot press service reported.

This procedure was carried out in Russia for the first time. The works were carried out at Aeroflot Technics’ hangar complexes at Sheremetyevo Airport.

The procedure of landing gear struts replacement is a scheduled procedure and is performed on Airbus A330 aircraft once in 10 years or every 20,000 flight cycles, whichever comes first. This work was carried out over a period of two months on three Aeroflot aircraft. On each aircraft, all struts were replaced: the nose strut and the two main struts.

In addition, the condition of landing gear strut assemblies was inspected, some elements and units were replaced, and a layer of cadmium was applied to protect against corrosion. After all procedures were completed, the chassis exhaust and retraction system was checked. All control tests confirmed normal operation of the struts.
