Irkutsk Aircraft Plant (IAZ) has transferred the third production MC-21-310 airliner, serial number MC.0016, to its flight-test division as Yakovlev advances preparations for the aircraft’s entry into service with Aeroflot. The aircraft has completed a fuel-tank leak test, with functional checks of the fuel system next in the ground-test programme.
IAZ is working to bring the first four production aircraft to the flight-test facility by the end of 2026. The aircraft form part of an 18-aircraft contract for Aeroflot, with delivery dependent on completion of flight testing, certification requirements and the associated documentation.
The second aircraft, MC.0015, is undergoing ground testing of its onboard systems and engines. Its flight-test campaign is scheduled to begin in late October. MC.0016 will follow the same sequence of ground and flight testing, while the fourth aircraft, MC.0017, is expected to reach the flight-test facility in October.
The first production aircraft, MC.0014 (registration 73362), moved to Yakovlev’s flight-test and development centre at Zhukovsky in the summer. The transfer of the remaining aircraft to the flight-test programme is intended to build the production fleet towards certification and subsequent customer acceptance.
