Advanced artificial intelligence technologies will be used at the Perm-based enterprise ODK-Aviaadvigatel when analyzing the results of tests of aircraft engine fan blades. At the recently held in Rybinsk technological forum “Innovations. Technologies. Production” with the participation of Perm engine builders the discussion of introduction of advanced technological solutions into production took place, as the press service of the United Engine Corporation reported.
One of the key areas of AI implementation was approbation of machine vision, with the help of which the specialists of ODK-Aviaadvigatel analyze tests for strength and durability of fan blade elements. The development of a neural network model based on the images obtained during the tests made it possible to determine the shape of gas turbine engine blade vibrations. The method significantly simplifies and speeds up the process of data analysis.
ODK-Aviaadvigatel specialists are also engaged in the development of large language models, and a promising direction in this area is the creation of chatbots trained on the documentation of the design bureau. This will allow to automate routine tasks and free up time and efforts of specialists to solve more complex design and technological tasks.
Another innovative method is the construction of models based on the analysis of historical, big data using statistical methods and machine learning – predictive diagnostics – of the condition of gas turbine engines in operation. The technology helps engine builders identify potential problems and prevent potential unit failures, which in turn improves the safety and efficiency of aircraft engines.
“The company’s employees face numerous challenges of the times. In order to effectively solve the most complex design, technological and production tasks, it is necessary to optimize processes and reduce “routine” to the maximum extent possible. For this purpose, AI-based technologies can and should be used to free up time and energy for specialists to solve priority tasks,” commented Dmitry Khudyakov, Head of the Engineering Analysis Systems Department at ODK-Aviation Engine Company.
The press service of ODK noted that the key challenge for the use of artificial intelligence in the work of ODK-Aviaadvigatel is to build up competencies in this area. For this purpose, the specialists of the Perm Engine Design Bureau actively cooperate with the region’s universities.
