China Eastern Airlines adds seventh C919 aircraft to its fleet

On 29 July 2024, China Eastern Airlines received its seventh C919 aircraft, the third delivery of this type this year. The aircraft, with flight number B-919H, flew from Shanghai Pudong International Airport to Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, where it officially joined the airline’s fleet. This was reported by Global Times.

China Eastern Airlines is the first customer of China Eastern’s C919 narrowbody aircraft, it now operates six aircraft of the type. On 28 May this year, on the first anniversary of the C919’s commercial operation, the airline received the sixth aircraft, the first of 100 ordered. China Eastern is currently the largest operator of C919s, with the fleet having completed 3,031 flights, carrying nearly 405,000 passengers.

China Eastern signed an agreement with Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) to order one hundred C919s on 28 September 2023. The C919s currently operate four scheduled commercial flights between Shanghai, Chengdu, Beijing, Xi’an and Guangzhou. With the delivery of the new domestic airliners, the airline plans to open new routes.

Suparna Airlines will receive its first C919 in the fourth quarter of this year. The airline will be the first private company to use this type of aircraft. Other Chinese carriers such as Air China and China Southern Airlines have also placed orders for 200 C919 aircraft. The total number of orders for the C919 has exceeded 1,000.
