Domodedovo Airport has prepared a surprise for airline passengers: sweet gifts from the Airline’s Catering Factory will be offered to travellers at check-in counters decorated with floral compositions of fresh flowers and balloons on June 30 to mark the 20th anniversary of cooperation, DME Press Service reported.

“Last year we and Emirates celebrated a decade of serving flights on the world’s largest airliner, the Airbus A380, and this year we are celebrating another anniversary – a 20-year collaboration. Emirates is the passenger traffic leader at Domodedovo among the airlines operating flights to far-abroad countries. To date, it is the only carrier that operates scheduled flights with the A380. For us it is very important that one of the fastest growing airlines in the world offers our passengers the highest level of service and flight safety”, said Andrey Pavlov, director of Moscow Domodedovo Airport.

The history of partnership between the airport and the airline began in July 2003. Within 20 years the companies have jointly served more than 6.6 million passengers on Dubai-Moscow (DME) – Dubai route. In the first five months of 2023, Emirates traffic grew by 49% year-on-year to 313,000 passengers.

“This year we are celebrating the anniversary of Emirates’ operations in Russia. Passengers departing from Moscow and St Petersburg can travel to Dubai and beyond to more than 140 destinations on five continents,” commented Vadim Besperstov, Emirates’ director for Russia and CIS.

Dubai is one of the most popular destinations at Domodedovo Airport. In the first year of cooperation, the airport partner operated five flights a week. Today, the carrier operates 14 flights per week from DME with an Airbus A380 and seven flights with a Boeing 777.

Domodedovo is the only airport in the Moscow air hub that has experience of handling the A380 on a regular basis. Due to its large size, airports that accept this type of aircraft have higher requirements in terms of airfield parameters and availability of the necessary equipment.
