A new air-supported hangar for the Yakolev Public Joint Stock Company’s (PJSC) line maintenance station has begun operations at Kurumoch International Airport in Samara. With its commissioning, the facility has become the largest of its kind in Europe. It will service short-haul Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) aircraft, and in the future, medium-haul MC-21-310s.

The opening ceremony was attended by Vyacheslav Romanov, Deputy Governor of the Samara Region; Andrei Dobryakov, Deputy Head of Rosaviatsia (Federal Air Transport Agency); Vasily Prutkovsky, Managing Director of Yakolev; Ian Burg, CEO of Rossiya Airlines; and Mikhail Berman, Executive Director of Kurumoch Airport.

The first aircraft to undergo maintenance at the new station will be Rossiya Airlines’ SSJ100 RA-89170. This aircraft will undergo a 4Y-check—periodic maintenance necessary to keep the aircraft in airworthy condition.

Dmitry Borisenko, Deputy Director General of Yakolev for Customer Support of Civil Aviation Equipment, noted that the company is not only manufacturing aircraft but also developing ground infrastructure. This allows for improved quality of service and ensures uninterrupted flights. There are currently seven line maintenance stations for SSJ100s in Russia, and the plan is to increase their number.
