At the 15th International exhibition HeliRussia-2023, the United Engine Corporation, KRET, Helicopters of Russia, and the Obninsk research and production enterprise Technologiya will present helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, the VK-650V and VK-1600 advanced helicopter engines, and new materials and onboard systems. More than 100 developments will be demonstrated in the exposition of the enterprises.

“Russia is one of the few countries in the world capable of creating helicopters from scratch. Thousands of our employees and dozens of enterprises are involved in this work. At HeliRussia-2023 we present the results of this work, including modern types of military and civil helicopters, new types of onboard equipment, helicopter drones, promising VK-650V and VK-1600 engines that will replace foreign power units on domestic helicopters,” the parent organization, Rostec State Corporation, told the aviation complex.

UEC is creating the VK-650V engine with a takeoff power of 650 hp for light multipurpose and special helicopters, including the Ansat. The specific characteristics of the engine will allow it to replace and abandon foreign counterparts in the future. The 1,400 hp VK-1600 on takeoff mode is designed for the Ka-62 helicopter and features high fuel efficiency and low life cycle cost.

Among the key exhibits are two flight models of the BAS-200 unmanned aerial system with various types of target loads and terrain monitoring equipment: a gravimeter, a magnetometer, and a spectrometer. These devices have already passed practical testing as part of the UAV. Due to its high payload (50 kg), it can carry a wide range of equipment for monitoring and aerial photography. This UAV was successfully tested in the Far North, where it delivered cargoes under conditions of low temperatures and difficult weather conditions. At the end of 2022 it became the first helicopter-type unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in Russia certified according to the airworthiness standards.

The exhibition also presents structural materials, honeycomb aggregates, high-strength organic and silicate glazing. In particular, a radio-transparent antenna fairing for helicopter navigation systems will be demonstrated. It allows to improve quality of the airborne radar operation by more than 10% due to the use of modern composites based on the silica fabric.

The Rosoboronexport stand will present the Ka-52 reconnaissance attack helicopter and a modernized version of the Mi-28NE attack helicopter, the Mi-17V-5 and Mi-171Sh military transport vehicles and the Mi-35M transport and combat helicopter. In addition, visitors will be able to see the light multipurpose Ka-226T and amphibious Mi-26T2B.

In addition, for the first time the exhibition will show automatic radio compass and electronic drive unit for modern aircraft, in particular for the passenger airliner SSJ-New.

The International Helicopter Industry Exhibition HeliRussia is the only one in Russia where the world achievements of the entire range of helicopter industry products and services, from design and manufacture to operation, are presented. HeliRussia-2023 will be held from May 18 to 20 at the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Centre.
