According to the results of certification works carried out by JSC NCV Mil and Kamov jointly with the Federal Autonomous Establishment Aviaregister of Russia, Rosaviatsia approved the upgraded Ka-32A11M helicopter on 26 December 2023.

Certification work to assess compliance with mandatory requirements of airworthiness standards continued for a year and a half. The Rosaviatsiya working group included representatives of Aviaregister of Russia, certification centres of GosNIIGA and TsIAM (or CIAM). The results obtained were agreed and approved by experts and specialists of Rosaviatsiya, the results were evaluated and an approving document was prepared, the agency said.

Ka-32A11M is a modification of the Ka-32A11BC helicopter with VK-2500PS-02 engines with increased power at maximum and emergency modes. The power increase was achieved by ODK-Klimov engineers due to more accurate temperature control by automatic digital control system BARC, application of new materials and heat protective coatings.

The engines ensure safer and more reliable helicopter piloting in hot climate and high altitude conditions, which is important for forest firefighting and rescue operations. As part of the certification work performed, NCV Mil and Kamov also confirmed the possibility of installing the VK-2500PS-02 engine on the Ka-32A11BC helicopter fleet already in operation.
