Kalashnikov Group unveiled the RUS-PE portable reconnaissance-strike system at World Defense Show 2026 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The system was displayed at the joint stand of Rosoboronexport, Russia’s state intermediary for defense exports.

System Class and Mission Profile

RUS-PE is a man-portable tactical loitering munition designed for day-and-night operations. The system delivers precision strikes against single stationary or moving targets using a guided munition.

Launch Method and Airframe Configuration

The munition launches from a transport-launch container using a pneumatic ejection system. This approach reduces acoustic and visual launch signatures and eliminates the need for bulky ground launch equipment. The airframe features an X-configured control surface layout.

Onboard Systems and Guidance

RUS-PE integrates a warhead, onboard flight control system, and an electro-optical (EO) seeker. A dual-channel gyro-stabilized surveillance unit provides automatic target detection, recognition, and tracking.

Image-processing algorithms incorporate neural network-based machine analysis elements. The system supports autonomous, semi-autonomous, and manual guidance modes.

Performance Parameters

  • The operating temperature range spans −40°C to +50°C (−40°F to +122°F).
  • Endurance is rated at up to 30 minutes.
  • Cruise speed is approximately 140 km/h (87 mph).

Under nominal conditions, the effective operational range may reach several dozen kilometers, depending on flight profile and wind conditions.

Tactical Employment and Market Positioning

The system is designed for carriage and deployment by a single operator. Its configuration suggests employment at platoon or company level as an organic ISR-strike asset. By combining reconnaissance and strike capabilities in one platform, RUS-PE compresses the sensor-to-shooter cycle without requiring external fire support.

Kalashnikov positioned the system at WDS 2026 as an export offering aimed at potential international customers. Based on its configuration and stated performance, RUS-PE competes in the lightweight tactical loitering munition segment.
