The new engine PD-8V for heavy helicopters Mi-26 will be designed in the system KOMPAS-3D, said Director General of the United Engine Corporation Vadim Badeha at a meeting with the Chairman of the Government of Russia Mikhail Mishustin.

On August 18, during his working trip to Samara, the Prime Minister visited UPC-Kuznetsov PJSC – the lead developer of the new engine.

Director General of ODK emphasized that the implementation of all set tasks is impossible without modern software in the field of design, product life cycle management, production management. The Corporation is actively pursuing an import substitution program, including in the field of PDM/PLM systems, engineering analysis and calculation systems. Within the framework of industrial competence centers, two projects with state support are being implemented to create CAD/CAM/PDM and ERP systems.

Thanks to the support of the Ministry of Digitalization, more than 450 workplaces at ODK-Kuznetsov are equipped with KOMPAS-3D CAD systems. It is on these workstations that the development of all newly created elements of production preparation and equipment is carried out.

“Today the PD-35 engine units are already being designed in Compass. The PD-8B engine will be designed from scratch in Kompass,” Vadim Badeha said.

In 2022, Rybinsk-based ODK-Saturn, a developer and manufacturer of gas turbine engines, announced the introduction of KOMPAS-3D as part of import substitution.
