Rosaviatsiya revokes operator certificate from Vyatkaavia Airline

The operator certificate of the carrier was annulled due to numerous violations identified during an inspection by Rosaviatsiya, the agency reported. The decision to revoke was made based on a statement by the head of Vyatkaavia.

A commission comprising employees from the central office and the Volga Interregional Territorial Administration of Rosaviatsiya conducted a detailed analysis of Vyatkaavia’s operational activities and found critical noncompliance with flight safety requirements. A previous inspection by Rostransnadzor also indicated several violations in the company’s operations that had not been rectified.

Following the review of the case, Rosaviatsiya confirmed the necessity of certificate annulment. The decision to revoke the license was signed on 12 November 2024 by the head of the Volga MIT of Rosaviatsiya, Lyudmila Pimenova.

The grounds for the inspection of Vyatkaavia’s activities were the crash on 26 October in the Darovskoy district of the Kirov region of a Mi-2 medical helicopter. On board the aircraft were a pilot and three medics, all of whom perished; the helicopter was almost completely destroyed by fire. The investigation of the disaster is being conducted by a commission of the Interstate Aviation Committee, which also includes a specialist from the Volga MIT of Rosaviatsiya.

After the certificate annulment, Russian Helicopter Systems will take over the provision of medical services in the region using air ambulance services. The First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Kirov Region, Dmitry Kurdyumov, emphasized that the work of the air ambulance will continue as usual.

“Considering the social significance of the air ambulance service’s work, flights for medical assistance to remote settlements continue,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.
