Rossiya Airlines will operate flights from Moscow to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk using Boeing 747 aircraft. Passenger capacity is being increased in line with the increased demand for flights to the Sakhalin region. Residents of the island region with their children are returning from holidays and holidays spent in the mainland of our country, the airline’s press service said.

The Rossiya aircraft of this type will perform two flights each from Moscow (30 and 31 August) and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (31 August and 1 September). This double-deck long-haul wide-body airliner is called Jumbo Jet. During the pandemic, the airline suspended Boeing 747 flights due to the global reduction in demand for air travel.

“Russia traditionally operates Boeing 777s with a passenger capacity of 373 or 457 depending on the configuration. Boeing 747 aircraft have a cabin with 522 seats.

Thanks to the modernisation of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk’s terminal complex, all passengers arriving on Rossiya flights are served quickly and in more comfortable conditions. The airport accepts not only Boeing 777 aircraft, but also B747 liners. The first for the new airport terminal was exactly the flight of Rossiya on 7 August.

“With the end of the summer season, Rossiya flights between the Moscow air transport hub and the Sakhalin region are even more in demand among travellers. In addition to increased capacity, additional frequencies are planned as part of the carrier’s intensive flight programme. From 8 September, flights will be operated on a daily basis – twice a day except Thursday. In total, the airline will make about 50 flights on this route per month,” the Rossiya press service said.
